. house love * herringbone floors .

always a love for real hardwood floors...
it's a renovator's dream of pulling back old carpet to reveal
what has not been seen for decades and ones heart nearly
skips a beat the moment those beautiful boards are visible.
so as no surprise i am entirely smitten when they are
in the regal herringbone pattern.
now... how to convince my beloved that
the beauty is worth the time invested?

. house love * stairway.

recently the conversation of stairs has been the debate...
living in an old home with a pretty oak
stairway most of my childhood, and our country house
with a unique double stairway,i see the stairs as
an opportunity to have a grand moment in ones home...
curved or straight?
open or closed?
wood or iron?
runner or not?

. knock knock * come in & miles redd .

always deeply obsessed with doors....
it's as if there is an anticipation of what is waiting beneath when
you are standing in front of an amazing door...
simply the preview to a fabulous show.
i myself have a beautiful front door, but if i didn't think my beau would
kill me... i would slather the most beautiful soft turquoise onto it.
adore a colorful door...
and in our next house one of my favorite doors of all time
will be my inspiration, except i want double doors... beyond lovely!
so without further ado... i give you miles redd's masterpiece on
his very own home.

kiss kiss!

. dream house * kitchen .

to begin this post, a bit of photo candy and inspiration....
i am over the moon for the wood built-ins...
(and fireplace that you can barely see in this shot). kiss kiss.

okay and secondly i am extremely blessed with my currant kitchen... it is fantastic! my beau designed and built it, he has expensive and impeccable taste.  large expanses of work space, top of the line cabinets, granite that would make a girl week in the knees, and sleek modern appliances... ahhhh lovely right? why would i ever leave?
yes well... we are wanting to build in the country,
soooo.....over pillow talk last night we where thinking
about what we would do in our NEW kitchen.
now that i've been spoiled - the list is long! tee hee

i'm thinking this...

hmmm that's a good start!
now if i can just convenience him that white cabinets are the way to go...
