All of my grandparents came from Germany many years ago, where they happened to settle in Nebraska. I was born and raised on a farm 10 miles from Eustis, and was the youngest of four children. Yes, I was probably the spoiled one in some ways, but at the age of nine I lost my mother. It was up to me to cook and care for my father. A farmer who was out working in the fields for many hours, and trying to raise a daughter. Cleaning, cooking, and all household chores where my responsibility. My cooking skills started there, with my father... we had to fry everything, we had no grill (actually I do not think anyone had a grill at that time). You would fry your eggs in the bacon fat after you fried your bacon, "oh what flavor!" That is why I love goooood food, it has to have FLAVOR! And better than that you have to have a terrific wine to help enhance that flavor, either by cooking with it or drinking. So pour yourself a glass and enjoy some delicious food with me...
